Privacy Policy

Last updated October 22, 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Bowfishing Shop ("we", "us") collects when you use bowfishing.shop, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect only what we need to take and ship your order and to run the site.

What we collect

  • When you place an order: your name, email address, shipping and billing addresses, a phone number if you enter one, the items you order, any note you add, and any coupon code you use. You enter your card details directly with our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • When you create an account: your email address, your name if you give it, a password (which we store only in scrambled, one-way hashed form), your saved address, your order history, and the items in your cart, which are saved to your account so they are there when you come back.
  • When you contact us: whatever you send us through the contact form or by email, including your name and email address.
  • When a charter or guide applies to be listed: the business name, location, phone number, email address, website, description and photos you submit. Once a listing is approved, these details, including the email address and phone number, are shown publicly in our charter directory.
  • Technical information: your IP address and browser type, which our servers record when you log in or submit certain forms and which we use to keep the site secure and limit abuse.

We do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers on this site, and we do not use your information to build advertising profiles.

How we use it

  • To process payments, pack and ship your order, and calculate tax and shipping.
  • To email you about your order: confirmation, shipping and tracking updates, and receipts or gift certificates.
  • To manage your account, including welcome and password-reset emails.
  • If you are signed in and leave items in your cart, we may send you one reminder email about them.
  • To answer your questions and handle returns or problems with an order.
  • To run and moderate the charter directory.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to keep the records the law requires, such as tax records.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that help us run the store, and only as much as they need:

  • Stripe processes your payment.
  • Shippo and the shipping carrier receive your name, address and contact details so your package can be labeled, tracked and delivered.
  • Google (Gmail) delivers the emails we send you.
  • Hostinger hosts the website and its database.
  • OpenStreetMap supplies the map tiles on our charter page, so your browser connects to their servers (and they see your IP address) when you open the map.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers or the site.

Cookies and similar technology

  • A sign-in cookie keeps you logged in to your account. It is needed for the account to work.
  • Your cart is saved in your browser's local storage, so it is still there if you leave and come back.
  • Stripe may set its own cookies or store data in your browser during checkout, to process payments and prevent fraud.

We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax, returns and legal purposes. We keep your account information until you ask us to delete it. Charter listings stay up until the guide asks us to remove or change them.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete your account, or stop the cart-reminder emails by contacting us using the details below. We may need to keep some order records even after an account is deleted, as explained above.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored only in hashed form, and payment details go straight to Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Our site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
